Derby Time

Last weekend was Thunder over Louisville, the kickoff for the Derby celebration. We took the kids and headed downtown for the show.
Ethan doesn't like loud noises so we brought his earmuffs, manmuffs, from the racetrack. The air show was before the fireworks and it was really loud.
Emma wore hers also.
This was our view from Daddy's office.
We stayed up in Daddy's office for most of the time. We went down to the chow wagon for dinner but everyone quickly was ready to go back up to the peace and quiet.
Nana, Garrett, Sean, Trystan, Mommy, and Emma watching the fireworks.
The 28th floor really is high up, but Ethan didn't seem to mind. He was scared sitting right in the windowsill.
Emma fell asleep watching the fireworks in Mommy's lap and really didn't wake up much after that for the rest of the night. She slept right through it, traffic and all.
Daddy reading Ethan a story with a sticker on his head from the bananas that says "place sticker on forehead. be happy." Ethan was out for the count.
We took the kids to the balloon glow on Friday night. There was an Energizer bunny balloon and they were giving out ears so all the kids had to get theirs.
Trystan and Jared with Keith Kaiser from Fox News.
Ethan on Daddy's shoulders watching the balloons. He was a little afraid and kept asking to go back outside of the gates. They were a little to close for him.
This was the U of L balloon. We later found out that it took flight during the glow. That was an accident of course. It was going a little crazy when we were there.
Sunday was Papaw's birthday so we went over there to celebrate with him. He likes getting in the hot tub with all the kids.
All the kids in the hot tub.
Yesterday was the Pegasus Parade and since we have been in the Derby spirit and all, we decided to pack up the kids and head downtown yet again. They have been more cultured in all their visits downtown this week than they have been ever before. They really enjoyed watching all of the airplanes coming in from the north to land at the airport. That was really their highlight of the evening.
Waiting for the parade to start. We had to wait for about an hour and a half. That wasn't much fun.
This is the Geico speedboat. It was huge. We saw this thing in the river at Thunder and it didn't look like anything special. It was going really fast though. Daddy said that it can go 188 mph in the water and that is really fast. It is much bigger closer up than it looked in the river.
This float had all of the Derby princesses on it.This was the U of L women's basketball team. They came in 2nd place in the NCAA tournament this year. GO LADY CARDS!
This was the U of L marching band. Pretty cool. We saw Patrick and his Dad marching. They were on Extreme Makeover Home Edition not too long ago.

This video was from the balloon glow, obviously.
